A very comfortable stay in a beautiful old house

Hathaway B&B was the perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend with some girlfriends. It was like stepping back in time with a beautiful old home located within lovely gardens. So quiet and comfortable. Everything we could have needed was provided and breakfast was delicious. With so much space we didn’t feel cramped in the least, and the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Surprisingly convenient location within easy distance to Newcastle, Port Stephens and even the Hunter Valley. We will be back!

Great place to stay

We stayed in the b&b and could not wish for a more relaxing place to endorse.
The hosts weekend friendly and helpful, we have booked to revisit and would recommend this place to anyone. Friendly, not overlooked, central to town and river.

Fabulous B&B

A truly fabulous B&B. It actually is more beautiful than the website photos suggest. A lovely house furnished in keeping with its era. Old style with all mod cons. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet, central, and pet-friendly

We stayed in The Cottage which has a secure yard for our little dog. Very nice to walk down to the river after a long drive then sit in the shady courtyard with a wine and admire the gardens. Plenty of dinner options close by. Breakfast the next morning at The Rectory was substantial and delicious and we, and our pet, were made to feel very welcome. It will definitely be our stopover of choice next time we drive to Sydney.

Always welcoming

For years now, when we have needed to stay at Port Stephens we have automatically thought “Hathaway”. Interesting buildings, vast peaceful gardens, extremely comfortable accommodation…

Warm and welcoming

We’ve been staying at Hathaway House for a few years as we travel with a dog. They have been superb hosts and we love the atmosphere of the house and garden as it’s a tranquil, time out of time sort of place…

Great, spontaneous night away

Very smooth from start to finish – booking, service, room, payment. Very surprised to find a piece of elegance tucked away in Raymond Terrace. Lovely to wander across the green for breakfast in the old rectory. Steeped in history. Would stay again.

Such a beautiful place to stay!

We stayed here with our elderly mum , her friend and our little dog. We left Hathaway definitely knowing we want to go back for another longer stay. The main house has lovely furnishings and comfortable beds. The yard was very safe for our little dog. The kitchen is functional and well-appointed. The breakfast was amazing! We recommend this as a great B&B!

Forget Newcastle - stay here in Raymond Terrace instead!

A combination of plush and spacious accommodation, a beautiful garden, and a delightful hostess (Helena) make this B and B my favourite in New South Wales. A hearty breakfast is served a short distance from your apartment on a picturesque terrace when the weather is good – just the shot for girding one’s loins in preparation for another day’s travelling. Actually, it would be well worth spending several days here and using it as a base for exploring the nearby Hunter Valley wineries and National Parks. It is a dog-friendly establishment, which is surprising given its beautiful decor and furnishings. Best of all, it is not expensive! Highly recommended.
